This is a letter from O.G. Dunckel, a Union soldier, to his wife Elizabeth and their children. Dunckel has now joined "Sherman's Grand Army" and has seen many of his friends in the ranks. He wants to know about how their livestock and crops are doing. The rebels are now fighting for "revenge," but Dunckel still thinks the Union will win.
