This is a letter from O.G. Dunckel, a Union soldier, to his wife Elizabeth and their children. Dunckel talks about the children's problems of late, including sickness and stealing. He hopes to send money home soon so his wife can buy certain livestock and products. He is still sick but says he's slowly getting better. Dunckel is very close to the fighting, and he is fearful for his life.
