Head Quarters 4 Mich. Camp Park May 31st /63. Dear Friend. As Sergeant Gooding has been writing some to you I will try and write you a few words that may be on a little differ- ent subject from what he has written. I don't know but he ought to let me see his so I might not write the same thing. We are very pleasantly situated at present in a beautiful grove in the front of this great army. today is sunday and now as the sun is setting in the west we are made to think of other scenes and other associations. It has been a very quiet day in camp and most of my time has been taken up writing letters. It is as good a way as we can pass time or part of the time How very different are the times now from what they were one year ago. Where was Sergeant Gooding a year [illegible in original] do you know? What an idea that is that we should go way down in Dixie My health is improveing and I am almost as well as ever. How are the folks getting along in your parts Is Miletus improving all the time. I would like to be there and enjoy one of those socials over again. Excuse this short note for it is almost meeting time Your Cousin Frank
