[Written upside down on top of Scan 1] you wanted to no how Angel carried himself he gets along first rate is not led of into bad company as I was affraid he would be he is well most of he time and as nosy as ever out of [money?] I money I guess but that is the case with most of the boys but they can get trusted at the Sutlers and mot of them do when pay day comes they wont have much come [Written on the top left side of Scan 1] to them November 1st /62 Camp in the woods near Munfords Dear Lucy once more I take my pen in hand to write you a few lines the reason I have not writen oftener is for want of time & (for the last ten days I have been scick I had better not said anything about it I suppose but thought I must give some excuse for not writing to you oftener) I am now getting better and shall be well in a days few ^ now I have not been so but what I could get around but it has been pretty hard work part of the time the first two weaks after we state come into this ^ we spent in schacing Morgan from one part of the state to the other with out even seeing him he has so may more friends than we have hear even those that call then selves union men that thare is no use of runing after him we been into places here whare he has ben gone but an hour or tow but but he always runs seams to be mighty afraid of us & I guess he will keep out of our way I guess I have writen enough about that you wanted I shuld tell something about [T.? I.?] Rawson I can tell you all I know in a few words he left camp one morning about daylight for the purpose of fetching a pail of water about 10 o'clock thare was an enquiry for Rawson but no Rawson could be found and we have sen nothing of him scince I heard by the way of his Brother inlaw that his folks new whare a he was I guess you will have to call him ^ Deserter [Written on right hand side of Scan 2] and let him go at that the Regiment left camp yesterday for Nashvillee that is what was well enough thare is a good many on the scick list I stayed behind not being quite well enough to ride I. Blakeman is with me I guess he is all the one you are aquainted with but what is gone on with the Reg.. you wanted I should give you a decription of our way living about the sleeping part first we have had no tents since we come into this State we have been favord with good wether most of the time have had but one snow Storm yet that come in the night & we got pretty .wet & cold it is generaly late when we camp at night & we dont have time to fix up much shelter then of night we are called out at all times of ^ all hours sometimes at 1 o-clock then again at 3, just as it happens it is new business & we have got to get used to it it is hard business but I get along first rate when I am well we about the eating part ^ have enought to eat most of the time hard Crackers enough and Salt Bacon a plenty Sometime we get some corn meal the then we have a hoe cake we got a little flour yesterday and Mr Brooks made ^ Some griddle cakes for us they went first rate he had to Bake them in the [illegible in original] but he done first rate I guess I have said enough abot what we eat but little concequence anaway) I have not the best place to writ I ever see we have a few rails stuck up and a little straw thrown on them to keep the sun of & I am under them writing. the dust blows round pretty freelly my writing desk is my Satchel and bed Blanket piled up before me may be all these things wll excuse this bad writing somthing ought to thats certain night Before last I received 2 letters from you the first since I left they had been following us up but we moved so often that they did not i over take us you better bele^ve I was glad to get them I hope you will write often you sent me an extra envelop which I will send back to you I thought we ware going to be trouble to get such things but we can get enough at present I have writen a letter home but I sent it before the mail come in if you see them William or Helen tell ^ I received there letter have I guess I ^ writen as much as you will want to read and and I will stop I remain your most Sincere Friend & well wisher Direct as before to Louisville KY..
