Camp near Chattahoochie River Ga Sunday evening July 10th 1864 (the Boys are all) (looking and guessing) I received a letter from you to day the first since the 25th of last month thare must be some that I dont get the one to day was maild the 30th it found me in camp enjoying myself some. yesterday morning our Brigade was orderd to cross the River at this place (Bosville) at three oclock in the morning we ware in line leveing our hoses back about a mile we expected to have a hard fight but ware disappointed the Rebs had retreated across the river a number of days ago when our Boys come on to the Bank and fired a few shots and then plunged into the water to cross they stood. but a few minuits the rebles had burnt two Bridges and of course we got nicely wet some had to swim to get across we stayd across all day in the evening a divission of Int.. releived us & we come back into camp getting another good wetting this is the way we have to fight have to advance the Int.. and then as quick as we find out whare they are fall back in the rear or of on one of the flanks we dont get as much hard fighting to do as they do but we have a goodeal more of it it is now about dark & I shall have to stop a while if the wind dont blow I may write more this evening for my house is large and not very tight and a candle dont always burn good Monday July 11th a pleasant morning this but it will be awful hot long towards noon I guess we can stay in the shade to day we can until the Bugle sounds & then we have to be on hand Frank left us the third he was not well I suppose he has gone back to Columbia thare is a lot of our Boys thare Tip Davis stopt thare and so of course I have not seen Jim Delaforce is back to Marrietta about 15 miles from here he was well yesterday I dont fell like writing this morning so I will stop Othniel
