Cavalry Near Louisville K.Y. December 6th 1864 Dear Lucy not receiving any letter from you I thought I would write a few lines & let you know how I am passing the time we ware paid of yesterday & as it was the first time in one year most of the regiment are on a bust I never see quite so much noise in camp before it is enough to make one think of home it took a quite a pile of money to pay the regiment as but a few Drew less than 200 hundred Dollars. to day we have drawn horses and Saddles they say we are agoing to break camp again befor many days I wish Thomas. would drive Hood away from Nashville then I guess we could rest a little longer the Boys just come into camp with a keg of beer got to drink it up bfore bed time gess we can as thare is only eight Gallons of it I guess if Mich.. folks could see some of the Boys preform they would think we ware getting wild I am left alone in the tent the rest of the Boys have gone to get some oysters loud times now days. no more tonight Dec 8th once more I take my pen to write a few lines it is very cold this evening & my tent is none of the warmest most of the Company are out on picket around the City not for fear of rebles but to press horses into the service orders to take every horse and mule they can find it looks rather hard to meat a man on the road to the city with a good pair of horses and unhitch them and leve his wagon standing in the road it makes a man look anything but goodnatured. the reason I am not with them I had to much to do in camp I suppose I am about as comfertable as I would be out to night for it is a real winter night although thare is no snow thare is rumor in camp that we are agoing to leve soon I dont think we shall stay a great while longer & it makes but little differeance to me time dont pass very fast here. I have received but one letter from you yet suppose you have writen more I have no news to write of any conciouence you said Robison was married who did he marry
