Ann Arbor Jan 1862 Sunday Morn Here I come at last my darling Lottie to answer your letter of day before yester- day and one which came to me long long ago. Lottie did not dream she was forgotten did she? If she did she was wrong for May never forgets her frie- -nds. I have been going going ever since I receivedyour letter so I have not had time . I have been some where every night this last week, I went to four lectures and two dances. Last night went to a dance and af- -ter the dance went to [Hangaterfers?] to an oyster supper. Had a splend- id time as you may immagine. Went with a Mr Spear a graduate of Yale College who is studying law here He was the handsomest gentleman in the room. Minnie went with a law student too a Mr Gillet he is just as full of funn as can be. I had a fine time last night but dont feel quite as fine this mor- -ning as I might. The girls have both gone to church _ Thought I would stay at home and write to you Think I had better be in bed than up writing though for I do believe I am sick. Guess I shall live throu- -gh it though AAron is at home and the last we heard from him he was better he has been very sick I hear I have me some nice skates and have been learning to skate I think it is splendid amusement. and have learned to skate quite well Last night just before I went I received such a nice long letter from Erville. She thinks Adrian is very dull _ She ought to spend the winter here if she wants to see lively people There is something going on all the while _ and you cant find a min -ute to do any thing scarcely _ I do wish you and Erville could come out here. Even if it wasnt but for two or three days if you couldnt stay longer Lottie I dont Know when we can come out there, dont th_ _ink we can very soon. perhaps not untill spring. Did you have a merry Christmas? We all took dinner that day at Mrs Woods _ New Years day eve that is Kate and I received calls with [crossed out] [this] Mrs Smith (Gilberts wife) and the wood girls. Minnie received them with Mrs Godfrey and a Miss Houghton We had ever so many calls and had a gay time [crossed out letters] "in general". Do you remember last New Years day didn't we have a horid time though "Ham" Erville wrote me about Collier Brown isnt it too bad? I rather liked him. she thinks Scott Bartholomew is soft. does he go up to see you any more? Lottie darling I have got the blues to day how I wish you were here I would lay my head down in your lap and have such a good cry. But dont tell any body for what wou- -ld they think to see that girl crying what a wicked world this is we live in dont you think so? Has Jennie been to visit you yet and How is sister McKeever? Has she given any parties yet I wish you would burn this letter it is written so badly. write me a long letter and I will answer it very soon dont forget to write soon to Ever Your Own May
