In his account book, George Bailey copied down recipes for home remedies from popular health recipe books such as "Dr. Chase's Recipes; or, Information for Everybody: An Invaluable Collection of About Eight Hundred Practical Recipes." The following recipes are included: treatments for sick or injured horses as well as fowl with Chicken Cholera; several hair tonics; home remedies for various ailments; specialized cleaners and polishers.
