Ann Arbor July 12th 1861 – Friday afternoon – Lottie Dear – Many thanks for your letter Lottie _ only we would have been so glad if it had have been Lottie herself _ dont you dare to say or think even that you are to fool us out of a visit this summer come out and make us a good long visit you "shadow you" what in the world have you been growing poor for _ do you think it improfs your looks? well stop it immediately quicker _ there's a "good time coming wait a little longer_" How sad it is about that poor soldier _ but it is not as if he had not had the best of care _ Lottie would'nt you like to go as nurse _ I believe I would. and sometimes think of it quite seriously _ I am so tired Ira and I have been out calling and Im almost tired to death _ "If there be one thing that I dislike more than another" it is going calling" _ So you are not [crossed out] [keeping] mooved yet _ dont you long for the time to come _ when you are once more nicely settled_ How I would like to [run?] in and see you _ how many good times we have had in those old college Halls" what lots of fun _ do you remember the night that you were in our bed room to arrange our bed and Prof John came _ Oh do you see Aunt Bessie often and Uncle Jake _ are they just the same _ my love to them all _ what has become of [Pennish?] _ wonder if he has left Adriann for good _ I never shall forget how Stuart F Ledd was kind to go with me to hear the Bell ringers _ when he wanted to go with Lottie _ If I ever see him again I shall tell him of it _ its pretty funny _ and mean too _ I think _ Do you ever see Mary Ann _ Lottie too"? _ and Erville the deer child give my love to her _ who does she go with now? little Pam _ has gone _ I had a letter from Julia Berry the other day _ do you see her often _ Mary went down to Mrs Woods early this morning and has not got home yet _ I suppose they are having high times _ Aggie moved and may keep us laughing all the time they are well matched_ how many times we say if Lottie was only here too _ how nice it would be _ do come _ Do you ever meet the Miss Avorys Julia wrote me that Mr Tanner was married _ too bad is'nt it _ such a splendid house _ you know I was coming to make you a long visit then _ have you seen Mr Roy's since you came back?
