#62 Stevenson Ala Nov 11th 1864 Dear wife you have got the Start of me this time for I have got two letters Since I wrote one but I wrote two letters last week before I got one from you. I shall not have any difficulty with John I concider myself above such things. I think you have quite a tongue for flattery you call me young good looking etc. now you know my nose is put on crooked and I am getting old and ugly So dont flatter me any more for if you do I shall begin to think I am Some body and begin to run after the gahals. I made out a furlough for John to go home but it never was Sent to head quarters So I dont believe he will get one yet but he ought to have one. John is pretty hard up with the chronic Diarhea you need not tell Electa about it. the old regiment Has been mustered out and is now is process of reorg- anizhing) it will take some time to get it organized I did not think you douted me but did not know but somebody had wrote something by the way you wrote. I think you. ought to influence me as well as me have almost you. I am very tired of writing as I ^ wrote ^ steady for three days the Company books and papers were all nearly two months behind So you see it takes some time to catch up but I am getting along pretty well with it I am glad you got the money all right for there was a great deal of danger at that time to send anything through. tell Nettie I will write some to her when I get a little over my hurry perhaps I may never see her but I can respect her for her fathers sake I presume that she cant think much of me as her fathers sister did not think I done right about her fathers property. I suppose Joe Bentley has got tired of his wife and so takes his hand maid well it is as much as I ever expected of him. I hardly know what to write as times is rather dull here it has been very rainy here for the past week we had Election tuesday the 8th Everything went off peaceable Old Abe got two to little Mack one.
