Simeon notes that he has been busy issuing clothing to about 200 men in four different detachments. He says he saw people ice skating recently, but that it is now too warm to do so safely. Simeon expresses hope that the end of the war will be accompanied by an amendment to the Constitution that excludes slavery from the U.S.
