Dear wife I hardly know what to write as
it is the same thing Every day it is get up in
the morning and do a little writing and go to
bed again at night the times are very dull
no news nothing to think about that is
worth writing have wrote one letter before
since I got one from home I am going to
write something to fill the Blank on this sheet
If it is not quite So cunning I am as well as
ever and hope you are the same but I expect
you are sick or I should got a letter this
week I put off writing my letter two days
to get one from home but no letter came So
I thought I must write something any how
Well I have had nothing to do to-day So I
took a Stroll in the Country I came across
a family that at the commencement of the
war lived in Nashville   he was a sesesh
well he sold out and moved down here
thinking he was so far into the interior
that Yanky invasion would never reach
him but the Yanky army came and the
Old man took his only girl and his mules
and horses (left his wife and one Son. on

the farm the boy was to young to go
into the army his oldest Son was in
the Rebel army) he left for North Carolina
well the yanks have not got there yet but
the son that was in the army came
home a few days ago tired of the war and
his girl got tired of living in Carolina with
nothing to eat so she said she was coming
back to her home in Tennessee to get
something to eat So she started part of the
way she came on the Cars part of the way
on foot and about 200 miles on horseback
she says her father is very sick and if
he ever gets able he is going to try to get
back to Old Tennessee and the Union again
She says she has not had a drink of tea or
coffee Since she went there one year ago.
I should like to see you all very much
I suppose the children are growing
almost out of my knowledge Well I
think I can find them out again when
I get home    I got a letter from Electa
this week She says you are not as fat
as you was when I came away but
says you are as limber as an Ell.
She thinks it agrees with you to go

without a husband how is it. you
know I dont have any chance to know
as I have not got your profile to look
at. Well kiss the children for me
and take a good one for yourself and
