Simeon details the final leg of his journey to meet up with General Sherman's forces. He leaves from New York City and reaches his destination in Goldsboro, NC. He claims to have seen mounds of dead Confederate soldiers nearby (possibly at Bentonville), which, in his eyes, was indicative of a decisive Union victory.
