Scofield Family Papers (c.00134)

This collection consists mainly of correspondence and other papers relating to the Stephen Scofield family of Ingham County, Michigan. Much of the correspondence relates to Grace Scofield Bridger (daughter of Stephen) and is mostly personal in content. Of interest here are a number of Civil War letters (1862) of Guy I. Scofield (brother of Grace), Company H, 23rd Regiment, Michigan Infantry, to and from his family. The earlier letters contain several descriptions of army life on the Kentucky front; later ones are concerned with personal matters, especially Guy's failing health.
