		Dear Siste
	I thaught I would
write a few lines and &
let you know that that
I am well & I hope you
are all the same we are in
Sag now we dont know
how long we shall stay her
we have not for had any pay
yet but we ll expect 
sone every tomorrow and
after we are mustered in
expect to come home and stay
a week or to tell mothe she
[nea?] not trouble her self about
me because I like the [illegible in original]
firstrate I think I shall
like the stand the [illegible in original]
well there are.not many sick
here I rode down in the Cars

I tell you we come fast
tell father there is no
Secesh talk alowed here
our victuals are [illegible in original] rice fred
pork I have to come to pork 
now our Captain we all
like as well as ever excuse
bad writing for I am laying
in a bunk and it is a hard
spot to write I will send
back the leter that mother
putin my pocket I have
red it and will follow the
advice of it dont write any
more such leters but write some
thing to incourage me an I will
get my likeness as soon as i can
my mouth has got well I want
you to write all of you lewis 
& Grace to write to I dont 
know but I shall get home as
