Oct 28 1862 Dear Sister I got a letter to day from you and mother I was very glad to hear from you mother wanted me to write how I was I have ben very sick cince I have ben here but am geting along very well at present I am in an a nice room it is warm I set up some our beds are not first quality they are very hard you wanted to know if poor or not I am very thin and poor I dont know whether I am very paile or not my hands lok rather white I have not looke^ d in a glass for a long time I dont think I shal have to go into the servace in a long time & I dont know as ever I quite deef I cant a person acrost the house without they speak very loud and plain you spoke somet hing about Will [Warren?] I have not sean him since he left Saginaw but he was sick in Louisville with the measles so so the boys told me there this is all I can tell about Will W tell [illegible in original] that as soon as I can get around I will l try to get some to send her tell Father to hang onto the sheep and bees dont sell them I shoyld like to board with you a spell send word how they get along on the farm and if they have to hier much help or not I hope they will get along god write often we have got prety good nurses here now we had a cross dutchman here till to day but we traded him of for a good one so I think we shall get along now very well I got a testiment and red it such tracts as that I sent home are all the religious papers aperson can get [hod?] of here there is an old preacher comes around evry day and gives all one apeace I dont portend to read them you nead not be afrad of any of these old preachers or their tracts ever turning my belief any you know what it was it is the same yet and ever will bee the is a good woman comes here evry day to see us and brings good thin gs to whenever we ask her she is a [butch?] woman I do write often it seems god to get a letter from home you all write a letter a peace and almost keep me areading a good share of the time send letters insted of of the paper papers do about the box dont let them [send?] Israel more tham you send me you know what is the best to send but if you have room I should like alitle butter if you can send it I shall try to get a furlow if possible I cant write any more to day good by from Guy direct as Israel told in his leter to his folks.
