Very Dear friends as Israel is
writing I will write a few lines I [illegible in original]
know what to tell you Guy seems better but
how long twill last I dont know I hope for
the best I am now giving Dr Gates medicine
it has had a good effect so far but I could not
have done so had not the nurse kept still
for if it was known by anyone else he would
be sent off and I dont know what they would
do to me I have to pretend to give their med
but I throw it away but I should feel guilty not
to try what I could for him the Dr told me
yesterday that he could not live and dont 
give him anything only some little thing to
keep him easy but I give the Med I brought
and am determined to do so for he certainly
seems better since he commenced taking it
but when he will be so as to come home I cant 
tell but I would give anything if I only had the
poor boy home yesterday he talked about it with
tears in his eyes and said he dont want to see
our folks but if he should not live to go he was
resigned he feels very calm he is so weak we
have to turn him in bed but I can do it with
what he can help himself O he is so glad I

I came they let me stay with him now
day and night for which favour I am
very thankful I have seen folks to all appe
arance worse than he is get well and those
that seemed better that died but we are
all in the hands of a kind father
who doeth all things well and I can
trust him though I feel awfullyl
about him I cant say more this
time hoping to have more encouraging
news next time dear Minnie and
all be good we shall go home as soon
as possible and I shall never come without
Guy I shall bring him dead or alive dont
worry more than you can help I am well
and watch him constantly and have the
assistance of 2 good nurses Guys

charged at any time when he is well
enough to leave the Letter must go
