proceed to Vicksburg & obtain pos-
session of a certain trunk belonging
to one “Randolph” supposed to
contain valuable papers. The trunk
is at Mrs Kains Boarding House
You will take possession of the 
trunk if found to contain papers
of importance (in your opinion)
and bring it to these Hd Qrs.
   Major Genl Washburn will
afford you the necessary facilities
to accomplish your mission
