I have not been very well since sab -ath we crossed the chesopeek bay and I guess I got sea sick I hope you will recover of your sickness. I was at fort Monroe Monday left for this place tuesday got here about 4 oc wee are expecting a batle here evry day the rebels are aroun here 50 thousant strong the 11 cavelry made a change and capture d one of the reble bateries and took 150 prisners our gun boats are sheling their slandy My company has been on the scout for 6 days and get orders to stay 6 more one man was shot the Name of [Page Torn] from Amos [Page Torn] I will not write mu ch as I am sick our forces are 40 thousan they cant [illegible in original] food breas works are all around I have not handeled one card since I left kee out of bad so [early?] as near as it can you must excuse Bad writing a speler give my love to Mother and all the rest I remain your son in love A.W.
