[Written on Envelope] Rev. B.H. Thomas Reedsburg Clarion Co Pa. Camp Suffolk Va May 11th/63. Rev. B.H. Thomas Reedsburg Calrion Co Penn Dear Berth, I write to say that as soon as I was informed of the condition of your dear son on Saturdy morning last I visited him, and found him very much depressed ner- vous and extremely weak. I talked with him and prayed with him prom- ising to return in the afternoon with a number of articles which would be a comfort to him and others which would nourish him. Accordingly in the afternoon I took him down a clean [illegible in original] jelly, oranges, whiskey & milk for ["illegible in original"]. and I am so glad to say that I found the happiest change in him that you can conceive of: He was cheerful, bright, and much stronger. The visit in the morning had been blest to him. Poor fellow felt that he was not forgotten but in the midst of friends. His mind was not so peaceful in the morning as he desired; but in the afternoon, I asked him if I should pray again? He said oh yes I would like to have prayer offered all the time. He has a faithful Catholic nurse who does all she can for him, and is assisted by an Dr. Harlan sent him from our Hospital. I have no doubt he will recover. I will visit him again today and [illegible in original] [illegible in original] today and inform you of his condition. I write [illegible in original] you in prayers for his recovery, and for the Sanctification of this severe affliction Sincerely [John?] J. Addison [illegible in original] Chaplain 11th Pa. Cav.
