Fred continues to struggle with acute diarrhea. He says that several men in his squad have "gone to the bone yard" due to chronic diarrhea (probably dysentery). Fred tells a story about another man who was cured of his diarrhea by a nearby doctor, and Fred is hopeful that the same doctor can help him. He goes on to briefly describe his diet, which is limited because of his sickness.
