Longyear…aged…48….years, a resident of…Mason……… in the County of ……Ingham…and State of…Michigan… whose Post Office address is…Mason…Mich………and …………………aged………years, a resident of…………… in the County of…………………and State of……………. whose Post Office address is……………………………. well known to me to be respectable and entitled to credit, and who being duly sworn, declare in relation to the aforesaid case as follows: That …I…have been well and personally acquainted with Philander Doxtader for about [crossed out] [years, and] 20… years [crossed out] [respectively;] and that I became acquainted with him in winter of 1868 and that in January of 1871 he moved out from the State of New York and lived in My family during the winter. That he was troubled very bad with the catarrh, and was drawing a Pension on the loSs of his right-hand. For about two and one half years he lived with his brother in the Township of Onondaga & then got married & moved on a farm acroSs the road from my farm in the Township of Leslie & lodged there until some time in 1881 when he sold his farm & moved to Kent Co Mich and stayed about [illegible] years and moved back to Leslie. He was at this time quite corpulent & complained of Heart troubles & Kidney disease. He at this time was not able to do but very little work and in 1885 moved to Virginia near Richmond and the next year died there. He was a very ambitious man and would work when he at times was hardly able to be around…………
