A 11th Mich Cavelry Lexington Ky that is the direction Lexington Kentucky Sep 11th 1864 Dear father now having arived to our regiment I thought it a good time to wright you a few lines and let you know how we get a long I am well and tough as ever we got to camp yester day about 4 oclock just about on one mild South of Lexingt^ it is a very fine camp on a nice of ground in a grove of maple and black walnut their is a very heavy tirf over it so a rain dont make it muddy the most of the regiment is off on a scout they went after John morgan but he was killed before they got whear he was so they are movving some forage from burnsides point to some other place i have forgot the place but they are a garding trains they wont be back under 10 or 12 days the rest of the boys sais their is hank cale hear in camp he is the only one that I know and I cant get in company H what I wanted to go in but I have got In company A the boys sais that is a good Company so about half of the Rome boys has gon in that and the rest was lucky enough to get in Co. fied H but I am well satis^ with my place I like soldiering first rait so far and i shal all the time if i can have my health Eugene is tough they say and with the regiment there is one in our company what is sick is that is Fomiy Stoddard Ed Stoddards brother he is in the Lexington hospital I dont now what the matter is yet I haint heard did you get my money that I r sent by cha^les Woodam their was 190 Dollars in the invelope I did not open it but that was what their should have also go buy ben and alsa^ Mr Palmer and my watch did you get that my pance and coat is out to Jackson I let mat Payne take them before I knew that they was a going to send home a box he will bring them when he comes down that way in the course of to three or [?]^ weaks we shal send a box from hear before long and I shal send some things in it if I have had any leters come since I have ben gone male them and send them along wright just as son as you get this I want to hear from home [Written on right side of letter] you may direct to me [End]
