November 10th 1864 Dear father now having a few moments to spend I take the pen in hand to let you know I get along I am well and hope these few lines will find you the same the boys are all well as far as I know I got a letter from you saying that you was a going to take a box to town the next day the [?] probility is that it is to Lexington now and we are moun Stirling now and dont know how long we shal stay their but they have a team gon to Lexington from co A and if you directed it to co A it will come in when they come back and if not I shal send after it the first chance I get and then I will wright rite away and let you know how the things come through I will see that each one of the boys get their own things if each ones are marked Election went for old Abe About 950 majority in Lexing ton I dont know how our regiment went for they was not but to hole comp anies hear and a fiew of Some of the other companies what they was hear went 50 for mack 150 for old Abe and I think that is about the way it will run all the way through the regiment the place which we are now at mount Stirling went a little majority for mack I dont now exactly how much but not over 95 majority after 4 oclock election day they let them have whisky and a more drunken Set you never saw in your life and they was all mack men to it rained all day like evry thing election day and for that matter it has rained for the last 10 days evry day but one and that was cloudy and I wet and then dry and then wet again we have lots of fun and some awful hard times I have seen the time I should like to have got our hay pen for to slept in it would have kept me dry and out of the mud I have slept whear the water has run under me and wet every rag of clothes I had on me so I could get up in the morning and ring the watter right out of then just so you had taken them rite out of a wa sh tub that is soldiers life but I never saw the day I regreted that I enlisted yet I have seen a great deal and am a going to see a great deal more have you sent that money yet if you haint put it in a letter and send it right along the sooner the beter 25 Dollars put it in as large bills as fesible it will come safe in a letter for the boys send all their money in that way and all they get from home comes in letters I remain as ever your son W Teachout respectfuly yours W Teach [Written upside down at top of letter, then travels down left side] after this pleas direct to Mr Webster Teachout Co L 11th Michigan Cavelry Lexington Ky instead of co A for I belong to Co L now [End]
