This is a letter from Webster Teachout, a Union soldier, to his father and mother. Teachout talks about the movements of his company and the recent battles and raids he has taken part in. Many of his friends have died or been wounded. Horses are scarce. Teachout asks his mother to send him baked chickens and for his father to come visit him.
