From The New England Economical Housekeeper by Esther Allen Howland (1845): Paring machines are designed to quickly and easily remove the outer skin or peel from fruits such as apples. This model was probably homemade and was designed to be used on the table top. Like many of the older models, the machine consists of a simple aparatus of wood with an attached blade to peel the apple as it is turned. This paring machine is similar to the 1803 model mentioned in the description of Paring Machine (1).
