These lathe turned funnels were each made from a single piece of wood. Grooves were then cut into wood at insert point so a vacuum did not build up inside the vessel being filled. The fact that these funnels are made of wood as well as the fact that they would fit the top of a cider keg indicates that they are mostly likely cider funnels. Metal was avoided because it imparts a flavor to cider.
