' Turf Management Short Course:

The Annual Short Course in Turf hanagement will take place
at the College of Agriculture, Rutgers University, New Brunswick,
N.J. on January Zl'through January 2h under the able leadership
of Dro Ralph Engel. \

Every member of the H.J0G.C.S.A. should make a special effort
to attend this Turf Course at RutgersO It gives you a chance to
meet old friends; brush the cobwebs out of your mind; talk over
the problems of the past year; learn what is the latest in the
turf field; and what's more, a chance to support the turf program
in New Jersey,

Meeting Notice:

The annual meeting and election of officers will take place
on THUASDAY, JANUARY 2hth right after the conference is over for
the day (at about hzoo P.H.),

The Nominating Committee, consisting of Jack Ormond, chair—
man, Ed Casey and Al Rathjens, will have a slate of officers for
your consideration. Do not forget, nominations can also be made
from the floor.

Golf Course Superintendents' Association of America:

The 28th National Turfgrass Conference and Show of the G.C.
Ser of America will be held at Louisville, Kentucky on February
11 through February 15, We hope that a good number will be in
attendance from the N.J. Association, If you have not already
made your plans to attend, you had best hurryo

Any member who is not planning to attend should sign his
proxy and send it to Sherwood Moore so that it can be used for
Voting3 This should be done without delay.

and also to wish every member and their families a very Happy
New Year.

Food For Thought
The comication of ideas is learned through education
through study of the past and by infinite practice under skilled
instruction.

Each hour of the day, from the humblest foreman to the chief
executive of the company, the person bearing responsibility must
engage in telling others what to do and how to do it.

The professional man of today must be able to write and
speak the English lanzuage with clarity and facility or stand
aside and let his place be occupied by someone who can.

Thus, learning is essential to us in our kind of work.

Heard At The 19th Hole:

 

Rumor has it that the Annual Christmas farty hold at Spring
Lake Golf & Country Club on December 6th upheld the tradition of
our annual affair. It was wonderful and all who attended had
a splendid time;

 

"Red“ Caravella is now Superintendent at Echo Lake Country
Club, Westfield, N,J.

The Jim Roach family and the Sherwood Moore family have
returned from a three week vacation in Florida. “he T; George
Conleys are still basking in the Elorida sunshine.
