Published monthly by the New Jersey Golf Course Superintendents Association March 4, 1957 FROM THE PRESIDENT'S DESK First of all, I wish to thank the membership for re-electing me as your president for the coming year. I will do all I can to uphold the dignity of the office and help further the good of our Association for a better and more organized group of Superintendents. I know that the officers that you have elected to help me will cooperate, the same as they did last year. At the National Turfgrass Conference your newly elected National President, Paul Weiss, spoke of having a larger per— centage of local members Join the National Association. I agree 100% and think that those not yet members of the national association should give it some serious thought. From Mr. Weiss's remarks, he said, "The strength of the United States of America lies in the unity of the local states with the national organization under the Constitution. How weak our country would be as an unorganized group of individual states. The weakness of our National Association lies in the unorganized group of local associations, each performing splendid work in their own back yards.” The President named the following committees for this year: Program Committee: Nick Florio and James O'Gibney Educational Committee: Joseph Malikowski and Ralph Engel Golf Committee: Alfred Caravella, Floyd Staats, and John Fallen Reception Committee: Sherwood Moore, Jack Ormond and Bill Monahan Flower Committee: William Riley, Albert Doggett, T. George Conley, Robert Wiley, and M. D. Crawfordo MEETING NOTICE: Tuesday, March 12, 1957 PLACE: Metuchen Golf and Country Club HOST: Charles Laing Golfing for the snowbirds will be permissible. We are coming to the time of year when this talk will be of value to all Superintendents. L____‘i TA -
