«My souumn sum. new or Tum” .3: x PENcam ”DAILY HERALD"; ; TUDOR sr IQN 00” fig; Second Edition . FOREWORD. T is with pleasure and pride that we publish this selection of I cartoons by Mr. Will Dyson. We have done so in response to numerous requests and, of course, because we are in agree- ment with the general opinion of newspapermen and artists, and many other people whose Opinions are worth while, that Will Dyson is the .cleverest cartoonist doing work in Great Britain to-day. It is possibly because he is a young Australian, coming from the celebrated school of “black-and-white” men of the Sydney Bulletin, that he shows such a wholesome disrespect for so many of our dear British accepted ideas and institutions. This, indeed, has been the key-note of the Daily Herald, which is the rallying-ground of rebels against things as they are, and strives, perhaps in a rough- and-ready way, to make articulate the various phases of social and economic revolt. Dyson’s success has been astonishingly quick, but the examples of his work given in these pages show it to be a success that has been well merited. His achievement is all the more remarkable when it is remembered that he “turns out” one of these admirable (cartoons every day with unfailing regularity. THE EDI FOR.
