The prize for the best assortment of aerated waters, comprising soda water, potash, seltzer, lemonade, kola champagne, ginger ale, lime juice, soda, and tonic water, was awarded by Dr. Juritz to Wordon & Pegram. Their dry ginger ale is a recent speciality, which is found admirable for use along with spirits. It has been standardised. Their “Club Soda,” made from the Albion Spring water, is quite famous, and held to be quite equal to imported. ‘ A I'gus. Wordon & Pegrani, Ltd. In the centre of the block in the Colonial Industry Hall, Messrs. Wordon &' Pegram, Ltd., have an excellent show of their aerated waters. They make a special feature of their “Pegram's Dry Ginger Ale” and “ Pegram's Club Soda.” Both of these articles are of the highest quality and purity, and free from all traCe of any organic could not be made of some of the imported waters. In particular, “ Pegram’s Dry Ginger Ale ” is really what it claims to be matter—a statement which a dry ginger ,___—.., ale, and not a concoction of aerated water, redolent of the perfumes of a fancy soap. It may be mentioned that Wordon & Pegram, Ltd., hold the appointment of' soda water makers to H.E. the Governor, and that their “Club Soda” and “Dry Ginger Ale ” are the only Colonial soda and ginger ale stocked by the Cape Government Rail- ways in all their refreshment rooms and on all their trains. Their factory is at the Albion Spring, Rondebosch, and their chief office at Cape Town—Times. Wordon & Pegram. Wordon & Pegram’s effervescent waters are well-known all over South Africa. In the Cape Colony they have a rare name for excellence and purity, and at their stand at the Show may be seen samples of all their various makes, not to mention liqueurs, cordials, and other things that appeal to the appetite. Their dry ginger ale is admitted to be equal to the best imported brands. This ginger ale was supplied for the use of the members of the National Convention. Need we say more P S.A. News. W HEN “Mac" first began his Cartoons for the “Cape Times," I was made the target for a good deal of anonymous abuse. Some of these criticisms were perhaps not wholly unjustified, for “Mac" had not yet got a firm hold of his pencil; others were merely malignant; all were consigned to the waste paper basket, and the young Cartoonist was given a fair chance. The wisdom or unwisdom of that decision may be judged from the collection of Sketches in the present volume—a selection from several hundreds of Cartoons, Caricatures, Par, liamentary Illustrations and Humorous Portraits—and I think “ Mac" need not fear to leave the result to the discernment of a sympathetic public. The work is uneven—what artist's is not 7—but it is the work of an honest craftsman, free from all affectation and pretence, with a sincere love of his craft, a genial outlook upon the drolleries of men and things, and powers of expreSz sion and characterisation in black and white which he is every month turning to better account..
