Dr. Stephen Munroe came to Grand Haven, Michigan in 1850. Although a busy physician, he also was an entrepreneur and built a sawmill north of Mill Point (Spring Lake) in 1867. In 1871, he was named director of the First National Bank in Grand Haven.
