Traverse City's First Hospital was Doomed by Fire
Article in quarterly newsletter with photograph of the Smith Sanitarium, known as the "shelternook", located on M-72, just west of where Tom's Market is today (1990). Traverse City's first hospital, the Smith Sanitarium, met its doom in 1915. Open heart surgery program started July 1, 1990.
