Source: The Daily Mining Journal Marquette, Mi. March 9, 1885 Monday This paper is of the opinion that the MH&O company's mangge- ment of the roads operating between this port and the mines about here will not be such as to compel the mine owners to think of building a line of their own. To force them to that step would be to destroy the value of the railroad company's own property and the management is altogether too intelligent and shrewd to do that. It is represented locally by a general manager, Mr. John Hornby, who understand the situation perfectly, and we feel assured that any proposition to burden mines with excessive freight charges an their freight traffic would encounter determined opposition.
