Source: The Mining Journal Marquette, Mi. December 11, 1866 Killed at St. Ignace Monday morning Toussaint Sharkey was run over by the cars at St. Ignace and killed. "August", as he was called by rail- road men, was a brakeman on the freigt train, and when he made his run down from Marquette Saturday his wife accompanied him and spent Sunday at the Foint. She was returning on the train which killed her husband. It is not known whether his foot slipped or whether he had a fit and thus fell under the wheels, as he was subject to fits. He was killed instantly. Sharkey was about 40 years of age and resided on Rock street in this city; .. .-
