Something of an Order

The DSS&A placed its first order for rolling stock for its new
lines, and the order includes 20 Mogul engines from Brooks Loco-
motive Works; also three mammoth steam shovels. The line when com-
pleted gives another direct transcontinental route connecting with
the NP near Ashland and the MC at the straits. The work is being
pushed rapidly on the Sault division by 500 men, while O'Reilly &
Co., and Henry & Balch have commenced on the contracts west of Mar-
quette.
