Accident occurred on DSS&A near Spurr Station
Accident occurred on the South South Shore and Atlantic Railway near Spurr Station on the 5th day of July 1887 at 250am. Caused by: Engine of the special passenger train running over man named Peter Hassell who was laying on the track near Spurr bridge. Hassell was one of the workmen on track at that place. 4th of July holiday he had been drinking, was dead when found. Train consisted of empty coaches returning from Houghton to Marquette. Copy of corner's requested by John Milroy, J.P., attached. Casualties one trespasser killed.
