Accident Report - September 18, 1887. An accident occurred on the Duluth South Shore and Atlantic Railway near Sand River station, on the 18th day of September 1687 at 535 o'clock P. MN. caused by: Empty engine no. 33 leaving track at the curve 4 mile west of Sand River, apparently caused by a ragged or badly worn iron rail which the flange of the driving wheel mounted.
