Accident Report - September 22, 1887. An accident occurred upon the Duluth South Shore and Atlantic Railway at Marquette station, on the 22nd day of September 1887, at 615 o'clock P. M. caused by: An extra freight trein, leaving westbound, struck a horse and bugey with three men in it at Genesee street crossing. ‘The horse was killed, one of the men named Agmund Pritz (about 16 years of age) was thrown forward and fell on the ground, his hands outstretched and across the reil. Wheels crossed them, one at the wrist, the other at the elbow. He was taken to the hospital where the arms were amputated one above, and one below the elbow. The doctor reports him as in a favorable condition. The two men escaped with little or no injury. The whistle was blown for the crossing and the béll was ringing at the time of the accident.
