It is stated by the Mining News of Florence, Wi., that
the contract will be let within 30 days for the construction
of the MSSM&A, from Sanders Point on Little Bay de Noque,
Delta county, upper Michigan, to S. S. Marie. It is also
confidently predicted that the entire line between
Minneapolis and the Sault will be completed by next Xmas.
The prospect of the speedy completion of the DSS&A is
urging Minneapolis interests to push forward its line to
reach S, S. Marie not far behind its rival. The building of
these two great railways through the very heart of the
wilderness, a few years ago but partially explored, and
covering a large area in two states and within less
than two years of the inception of both enterprises, is
one of the notable examples of this epoch of great
railway energy and progress.
