Got his foot crushed
James Scanlon, aged about 15, met with an accident Saturday evening by which his foot was badly cushed. At 5:32 a westbound ore train was coming over the Mackinac bridge on the South Shore, and just as the train reached the fill two young lads jumped on the ore cars. They were James Scanlon and a Smith boy, the latter by the way being a lad who lost a part of one of his limbs while jumping on cars several years ago. Scalon failed to step on the foot board and the wheel crushed his foot.
