Accident Report - September 25, 1887. An accident ocurred upon the Duluth South Shore and Atlantic Raiway near Trout Lake Station, on the 25th day of September 1887, at 330 o'clock A. M. caused bys A train of ore cars breaking in two parts about A mile west of Trout Leke Crossing, the forward portion of train, engine and 35 cars ore came down grade without being properly controll- ed, the brakeman being afraid the rear portion would run into them, did not make much effort as he would otherwise have done, Bngine and cars ran the crossing of ‘the NM. Se Ste M&A. at Trout Lake without stopping and soon after struck rear end of @ preceeding ore train taking water at the tank house . Cab- oose and3 cars of forward train and 13 cars of latter with en- gine and tender derailed. No person hurt, track blocked 30 hours. Had to transfer passengers.
