Accident Report - December 8, 1887. An accident occurred upon the Duluth South Shore and Atlantic Railway at Baraga station on the 8th day of December 1887, at 615 Fe M. caused by Way freight westbound coming in collision with engine 25 (empty) that was being side tracked to let way freight pass but had not got clear of main track and had no signal out for protec- tione Engineman of empty engine disregarded the rules and was the direct cause of accident. Way freight engineman was also in fault in not having train more completely under control approaching station. Front of both engines were damaged and 6 freight cars off the rails. ‘Track blocked 6 hours. No person injured. Damage to rolling stock $480.00. A. Watson, General Superintendent.
