Source: The Mining Journal Marquette, Mi. Saturday, Dec. 17, 1887 Railroad Notes Beginning this week, the C&NW is running refrigerator cars from Milwaukee to Ishpeming twice each week. The cars leave Milwaukee on Tuesday and Thursday of each week ané arrive in this city on Wednesdsy and Friday, making the trip in one day. Conductors on the C&NW now have instructions to tear eut "short aileage" from thousand mile coupon books, Froe Ishpeming to Fort Howard and Green Bay the distance over the C&NW is 179 miles, ané until recently conductors have taken coupons for 180 miles, but now collect for 161 miles, the distance from Green Bay via the South Shore and CMEStP and Northern route. On Saturday, Dec. 24 and on the 25 and 26 of December and on January 1 and 2, holiday route tickets can be bought at the Ishpeming office of the DSSEA to any point on that road, and return for one and one third fares. Tickets are good fromreturn up to and including January 3. Holiday trip tickets, good to any point in lower Michigan will be placed on sale at the South Shore passenger depot on December 23, 24, 25 and 26, good until January 4.
