Aecident Report - December 17, 1887. An accident occurred upon the Duluth South Shore and Atlantic Railway near Ishpeming on the 17th day of December 1887 at 930 o'clock A. M. caused by Richard Nugent, brakeman with switch engine in Ishpeming yard losing a portion of middle finger on right hand. He was pulling pin between engine and ore oar no. 992, when engine slacked back; his finger caught between pin and dead wood taking off a portion. He was off work 3 weeks, out is again on duty. A.
