Frightful blow
About 3 o'clock Wednesday afternoon Albert Clement met with a painful accident while at work on the ore dock extension, which will be apt to lay him up for several weeks, if, in fact it does not result in something of a more serious nature. He was standing near the guides of the pile driver and was struck by a big splinter knocked from the top of the pile by the hammer. He check bone was broken, and his head and face terribly mangled. Clement was taken to his home on third street immediately after the accident, and medial aide was summoned. The dressing on his wounds was a somewhat difficult task, but in the evening he was reported as getting along favorably, through suffering considerably. Clement is a man of family, and has been in the employ of the railroad for several years.
