Source: The Daily Mining Journal Marquette, Mi. July 17, 1888 Tuesday Editorial The Sault News lays the flattering unction to its soul that the "Soo" is to be greatly benefited at the expense of St. Ignace by the impending transfer to the CPR of a controlling interest in the DSS&A. It is not in the least likely that the hopes of the News will be realized. The DSS&A has not been operated in the interest of this point or that hitherto. The traffic that could be most advan- tageously handled over the connecting lines at the Straits has gone that way, and that which could best reach its des- tination by way of S. S. Marie was sent via that route. The same system of handling the traffic that comes to the road will no doubt be followed by the new management. The CPR officials will hardly discriminate in favor of or again- st towns on any line that it may acquire, as this would be sure to unfavorably effect the local traffic on the roads, and might very easily result in the construction of compet- ing lines. Just why the Sault people desire to see St. Ignace "done up" by the change is something we can't under- stand. Can it be possible that a place of the "Soo's" im- portance is jealous of so modest a rival at St. Ignace? DSSRA Sam Breck
