August 4, 1888 Saturday The Copper Country Houghton, July 31 - Railway mail clerk, Otto Bechler, arrived Sunday in a brand new mail car, in which he started yesterday morn- ing on his new run to Mackinaw City. The car is arranged especial- ly for the handling of the large mails that come to the district. In the center there are 160 pigeon holes, 24 large boxes at the end for papers and hooks for holding open 50 small aacks and bags, while the clerk is distributing. There is no door in the end of the end of the car, nor any steps leading up to the doors in the sides where the mail is taken in or given out, so that it is im- possible for any one to gain access to the car while in motion or at any time without the consent of the clerk. \DSS&A Passenger Equipment «= Passenger
