Negaunee, August 6, 1888

The reporter took a journey out to the DSS&A Ry.,
Palmer extension Saturday. From here to Half-way the
grading is very nearly finished and work is well under
way on the remainder. The laying of rails will be
commenced in a short time. The contractors have a
little over three week's time yet, and will doubtless
finish the work in that interval. There is quite a
settlement at the Half-way, nearly all the laborers
employed on the road living at boarding houses there
and in tents.
