August 11, 1888 Saturday New Cars One hundred of the new box cars ordered by The DSS&A a few months ago have been delivered to the road and have all ready been put to use. The first consignment of them arrived in Mar- quette Tuesday. They are marked "Duluth, South Shore & Atlan- tic," "Through Line," while in one car appeara a black block with white lettering and border, "The Soo-Mackinaw Short Line." the cars were built by the Michigan Car Co., at Detroit, are 34 feet long, weight 24,700 lbs., capacity 50,000 lbs. They have safety couplers and all the latest improvements. Six or seven hundred more are to be delivered and will come along as fast as they can be furnished. DSSEA Equipment - Box
